Cut and sifted root is chopped and screened into pieces sized for loose-leaf blends, decoctions, and further milling. Tea bag cut is screened finer so it fills bags evenly and does not dust through the paper. If you plan to mill the root yourself, cut and sifted gives you the most control over final particle size.
